what comes around goes around ...

We have enjoyed our time here in Tyler, Tx. at the YWAM base. There are a lot of great people here that we have met so far. I just wanted to share a quick story about something cool and funny that happened.

On the way here Stephanie and I had been discussing things we were believing for on this trip. We had some small things, some larger and some very specific. We'll maybe share some of the others in a later post. This one just happened, so I wanted to share it while it was fresh. Stephanie told me she felt like we'd meet someone who would cut her hair while we were in Texas. The cool thing is...it could have been anywhere...but, she felt like it would be Texas.

So, the first day we get to Tyler, one of the staff at the YWAM base mentions that his friend's wife cuts hair at a celebrity level. (meaning, she's really good) Sounded pricey, but he mentioned that she does it for donations and cuts the students hair at the YWAM base. (YWAM students have no money, so this was our kind of haircut) He set it up for her and her husband to be at lunch the next day at his brother's house for her to cut both of our hair.

Here is the series of events in chronological order:
1) The girl cut both of our hair. (She said she'd do it for free.)
2) Our lunch host gave me some money to cover some gas for our trip. (Some money rolled up that I never looked at...just stuffed in my pocket) He said it was not much, but it was all he had in his wallet.
3) The hair cutters' husband needed a ride back to the YWAM base after lunch.
4) Stephanie said for me to give him the money, which I did. (still not knowing how much it was) We told him to give it to his wife.
5) We got back to the YWAM base and he gave it back to us (again, without looking at it either) saying that they both wanted to contribute some money to our trip.
6) That night was community night at YWAM...there was an offering taken up for the base...you can guess what money ended up in the offering that night out of my pocket.

It is funny what happens when you try and become a giver....often you give and get back...often you give, get back and then give it away somewhere else. We just thought this was a funny story to share of people giving to each other. (YWAMer's do this a lot!) God is the giver of good gifts...ours pail in comparison...but, it doesn't stop us from still giving.
